About Us

Mission Statement

Transforming lives and communities through mental health, addiction, housing, and essential human services.

Who We Are and What We Do

Originally founded in Huntington in 1926 as a social service agency, Family Service League (FSL) has grown substantially since then to provide the support and security more than 50,000 Long Islanders rely on every day.

With over 60 social service programs in more than 20 locations and committed staff and support personnel of approximately 700, we continue to serve Long Island’s most vulnerable citizens. From seniors seeking companionship and purpose and the homeless seeking shelter and nourishment to those suffering from addiction and mental illness and families working hard to stay together, FSL will continue to help our neighbors when they need it most.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) are fundamental principles that we embrace and respect. We are committed to fostering an inclusive culture where our employees feel valued and heard, and to engaging and retaining a diverse workforce that reflects the diversity of the population we serve.

We work to reduce disparities in behavioral health care by ensuring fair and equitable access to treatment, with a focus on achieving positive treatment outcomes, especially for historically marginalized groups. We recognize that by providing culturally competent services, we can adequately address and meet the needs of every individual, family, and child.

Our DEIB efforts are at the core of everything we do because we know that cultivating an organizational culture centered around the needs of our employees allows them to do their best work, which directly translates to providing the best service to our clients.
